Iowa did not simply beat Northern Iowa. The No. 18 Hawkeyes produced a rushing performance the program had not seen in more than four decades.
Xavier Williams, Nathan McNeil, and Braeden Jackson each cleared 100 rushing yards as Iowa rolled to a 55 to 0 victory. It was the first time since 1983 that three Hawkeyes reached that mark in the same game.
A ground game with no single answer
Williams needed only six carries to rush for 151 yards and three touchdowns. McNeil added 111 yards, while Jackson surpassed 100 and scored twice, including a 62 yard run.
The depth made the performance more striking. Iowa played without leading running back Kamari Moulton and still accumulated 422 rushing yards. Northern Iowa could not key on one back because fresh power and speed kept arriving.
Hank Brown made the offense even more efficient by completing all 12 of his passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Iowa finished with 640 total yards, its highest scoring output since 2018, and no wasted possessions from its quarterback.
Defense completes the picture
Northern Iowa managed only 155 total yards. Jaxon Dailey threw two interceptions, and the Panthers never came close to matching Iowa’s physical control.
The shutout matters because it kept the afternoon from becoming only an offensive exhibition. Iowa dominated both sides and played with the focus expected from a ranked team.
The next opponent will not allow lanes this large, but the lesson is still important. Iowa has depth, multiple backs capable of explosive production, and an offense that can punish a defense without asking its quarterback to take unnecessary risks.
